The cylinder is the heart of the lock: the part your key goes into. After moving house, when a key goes missing or as an upgrade to SKG-certified hardware, you replace only the cylinder — the lock itself stays in place. That makes this the fastest and cheapest way to know for certain who can get in.
Replacing a cylinder costs € 65 to € 180 each, including fitting. A standard cylinder sits at the bottom of the range; an SKG** cylinder with certified keys (duplicates only with the code card) at the top. If you have several cylinders replaced at once, they can be keyed alike: one key for all doors, often at a sharper price per cylinder.
When choosing, pay attention to anti-snap protection: in many burglaries the cylinder is pulled out of the lock with a puller. A cylinder or security hardware with core-pull protection prevents that — the locksmith advises what suits your door.
