A multipoint lock secures the door at several points at once with a single turn — top, middle and bottom. That anchors the door in the frame along its whole height, instead of only at the lock. In uPVC and aluminium doors it is the standard; in wooden doors it is built in as a heavy security upgrade.

Fitting or replacing a multipoint lock costs € 250 to € 600 per door, including materials and fitting. The mechanism is bespoke per door: brand, backset and locking-point distances must match exactly, and the adjustment is precision work — when a multipoint lock sticks, badly adjusted hardware is more often the cause than a defect.

Is your existing multipoint lock sticking or turning heavily? Don't wait until it seizes completely: a mechanism that still moves can be adjusted or repaired, a broken one means replacement. And if only the cylinder fails, the whole mechanism does not need replacing.
